about

I couldn't have completed my first album without featuring a song from my favorite musical. That is none other than "My Fair Lady" (1956)! In this song Professor Higgins, played by Rex Harrison, finally realizes what he has and that is a love that can even cause him to give up his pride. That beautiful lady of course is Miss Eliza Doolittle. This character was played by the beautiful and talented Julie Andrews on Broadway. In the 1964 film the character was played by the captivating Audery Hepburn and was of coursed voiced by the great American soprano Marni Nixon. Nixon also famously dubbed the voices of Debra Kerr in the "King and I" and Natalie Wood in "West Side Story."

lyrics

I've grown accustomed to her face
She almost makes the day begin
I've grown accustomed to the tune that
She whistles night and noon

Her smiles, her frowns
Her ups, her downs
Are second nature to me now
Like breathing out and breathing in

I was serenely independent and content before we met
Surely, I could always be that way again
And yet
I've grown accustomed to her looks
Accustomed to her voice
Accustomed to her face

I've gotten used to hear her say
Good morning everyday
Her joys, her woes
Her highs, her lows

Are second nature to me now
Like breathing out and breathing in
I'm very grateful she's a woman
And so easy to forget

Rather like a habit
One can always break
And yet
I've grown accustomed to the trace
Of something in the air
Accustomed to her face
